Fraction strips are a good idea to help students visualize and compare fractions. Try making some at home. It's pretty easy. You can do it on your own or you can follow the instructions in the link below.
Fractions can be made by measuring and marking or by simply folding each strip. Instead of using inches like in the link, try to use centimetres which is will be practical, hands on measurement practice. Start by making 4 strips that are 24 cm long. One strip will be left as 1 whole. The other strips will be divided into 2, 3, and 4 equal sections. Practice division skills when making and marking each fraction strip. (what is 24 ÷ 2?, 24 ÷ 3? 24 ÷ 4?)
