How many did you get right? How were you able to tell the difference between happy and sad? It is important to know about our own emotions, but it is also important to recognize emotions that other people are feeling as well. Our facial expressions give big clues as to what emotion we are feeling. Other things, like how we are placing our hands or arms can also be big hints. In the art world, each emotion can be linked with a colour or a picture.
In this activity, I would like you to get a blank piece of paper and divide it into 4 equal sections. In each section, choose an emotion and write it down at the top. Now, use your art skills and represent the emotion. Draw just a face or the whole person. You can even draw a whole scene if you like. Remember to use the mouth and eyes to help you represent your emotion. Also, make sure to choose the right colours. When you are done, write a short explanation (a couple sentences) about each picture. Have fun!
